With over 10 years of experience in mental and behavioral health, I specialize in cognitive-behavioral therapy for anxiety, depression, and trauma.
My approach is client-centered, collaborative, and evidence-based. I prioritize building a trusting and safe therapeutic relationship.
I have a master's degree in social work from Winthrop University and have completed additional training in trauma-informed care.
Hello, my name is Bahtyah Benyahmeen, MSW, RCSWI, LSWAIC and I am an Advocate (INFJ) personality type. I went to the University of South Florida where I obtained my BA in criminology. It was during those studies that I was introduced to the field of mental and behavioral health. I followed that path, which led me to get my master’s in social work (MSW) from Winthrop University (2020).
I have over 10 years experience using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), as well as trauma informed interventions. As a person that is well versed in oppressive and discriminatory experiences, I prioritize the importance of the patient as the expert on themselves. Offering guidance, information, opportunity, and support, I think of myself as your GPS. Navigating you through the therapeutic process.
Whether you’re managing everyday stressors or needing to identify and manage triggers, I use a person-centered approach that relies heavily on listening skills to determine next steps. I make connections and isolate strengths, barriers (beliefs, people, organizations, stigma, lack of resources, etc.), limitations, and themes/patterns, to offer the most accurate and relevant feedback. The feedback is then used to develop action steps and those action steps produce positive change.
If you resonate with my approach, I invite you to contact me for further consideration.
If you are trying therapy for the first time, I can help you see it as normal.
And if you would like to keep looking, I wish you well on your healing journey.
